We’ve started the first season of Midnight and it was a pleasant time for all in Mythic zeros as they are now on a daily reset.

Eric has picked up the Demonology spec again since Warlords of Draenor and has been having fun. Being low attendance for the start of a new expansion has been a little different than how it has been typically, but it still went well overall. He is enjoying the Prey activities and especially the Grudge Pit delve because there is no moving around an entire zone to finish.

Kura finally managed to finish the leveling campaign and there is just SO much to do and enjoying that there is so much content. He noticed that his Death Knight felt a little off and ended up doing some research and found that there were changes and adjusted accordingly! The DK along with other classes will be getting some nerf reversals, other nerfs, and changes so it should help across the board. Kura, much like Rei, has been getting lost in Silvermoon, but it can be helped, where’s a guard when you need one?!

His poor monitor almost biffed it, but he caught it before it met an ultimate demise and hopefully be back to its usual state by raid.

Rei saw a new listener come in and ask about rating for this expansion and let it be known as of this episode – Eric and Kura give it a nine, Rei says 7½ or an 8 due to just a little lack of the player base togetherness, which is not on Blizz by any means.

Besides that, she’s still disappointed at people who always want to come raid and after double checking with requirements and expectations, the people will still no show along with no calling out to boot! Same with applicants that leave notes to be interested as well. She still has gripes about Brann and now Valeera not being markable, when NPCs all over can be, what gives? And she touched a little of the Bot Battlegrounds – she sees they will focus on the healer when in range. They are doing their job.

As we go back a hundred episodes, Order of Corrupted Souls downed Heroic Lihuvim and getting to Phase 03 of Halondrus, which apparently gave some a little bit of trauma. Still doing Mythic+ runs and making friends.

Rei also observes that there is a line to leave Silvermoon by the Orgrimmar portal. She points out that people in the dungeons this week were extra toxic. Everyone discusses how Follower Dungeons have required some fixes. They then talk about learning the dungeon mechanics with a focus on the tasks in Murder Row.

Eric was excited to have taken down Heroic Saladbar ( Nexus-King Salhadaar ) and the group will have to face Dimensius ( or as Rei likes to call him, “Wannbe Unicron” ). He only played a couple hours of Legion Remix, but with all the vacation time he’s gotten, the week off will prove to be well spent playing as much as possible. When it comes to Midnight, he’s a bit anxious of what’s to come when it comes to the class pruning / simplification and lack of add-ons / WeakAuras. Kura is averaging one raid night a week, which means Legion Remix for him was making a Demon Hunter. Hopefully this time he gets past the starting zone! 

Rei took the time she had and remade a couple of characters for Legion Remix to finish some Allied Races and Heritage Armor as well as trying different specs. She explained to Kura about wanting Blizzard to make the functions the same so she’s not plummeting to her death. Some keys were squeezed in and once again, having to encounter someone who wants to be friends, but dynamics change “because female”. As we go back a hundred episodes, we realized that Crisp is almost doing the same routine from back then – Hunter, Demon Hunter, Warrior..just in different game variations! Next, Rei talks about how OoCS almost has Queen Ansurek down on their alts. She also talks about how people are relearning the raid on their alts and how she and Eric are getting each other’s drops. They talk about not getting rewards from LFR and this leads to Nick suggesting that people focus on enjoying the activity and not the reward. He wonders if the game has become too reward-centric. Kurabara talks about how he enjoys the activity of mining and farming. He also mentions he got most of the stuff on Siren’s Isle.

Eric talks about how the guild is working on heroic Queen Ansurek but has not made much progress due to people missing raid for the holidays. He also mentions that he is working on his eighth level 80 character.

Next, Rei talks about running mythic+ dungeons and getting tanks that don’t pay attention. Rei and Kura ran some dungeons and they complain about Necrotic Wake.

Eric mentions that Order of Corrupted Souls has downed Silken Court and is struggling on Ansurek. He also talks about learning to play his Havoc Demon Hunter and how he’s still figuring out their enhanced mobility. He talks about finishing the Earthen campaign and he and Kura complain about Jewelcrafting.

Next, they talk about how players are not using all their utility in the Mythic+ dungeons. Kura talks about how he has different talent builds on his evoker with different utility talents selected depending on the boss fight. Nick points out that Mythic+ is intended for players to communicate, and being open to switching your build and using your interrupts is part of that. They also talk about how players can be defensive and think each other is being needlessly toxic. They also talk about how interrupts and dispels are just as much boss mechanics as standing in fire or dodging attacks are.

First, we talk about whether we enjoyed the book and enjoyed the Rise, Fall, Future format. Nick mentions that the rise and fall portions of the book feel like different books, as the stories change from one of an up-and-coming company to a series of corporate battels. The last part of the book is also tough to read as the stories Schreir is telling are from the last half decade when Blizzard has been in turmoil, and as it becomes evident which story he is setting up, the anticipation of knowing what he’s about to discuss can be discomfiting. Nick also comments that the last chapter stands out since it addresses the layoffs from January.

We talk about how Schreier’s writing style which works for telling these narratives, although Nick and Rei were pressed to try to fit everything into chronological order.

Rei also talks about her experiences working for Gamestop and Activision and how they compare with the experiences under Activision’s bad management.

We also talk about some of the more interesting anecdotes, like how Brian Birmingham quit because of the implementation of stack ranking. They talk about Ben Brode’s path to joining Blizzard. And Nick mentions his disdain for Armin Zerza.

Eric talks about getting his warlock to be raid ready and is not looking forward to the initial raid experience as his characters are undergeared. He does however love the hero talents for his warlock, especially the Diabloist spec.

Kura talks about some of the bugs he has found in game. He recounts leaving a dungeon and getting teleported to an endless ocean where he was stuck falling and could not get out. He wound up needing a guild invite to teleport him back to the game. He also talks about a bug on the last quest of the campaign that prevented him from seeing the finale cinematic.

Next, they talk about cross-realm guilds and how that will help complete guild accomplishments, but people need to pay attention to how many non-guild members are present. They then talk about some of the bugs in the pre-patch, including Sylvanas being broken in Sanctum of Domination and the turtle quests in BfA not having any enemies.

First, Rei talks about bringing an underleveled character through some mythic dungeons and struggling with the carry. This leads to a discussion about people who buy carries or even buy whole accounts for the achievements and mounts they may have on the account. They also talk about how sometimes when tanks or healers swap to DPS for a raid, there can be problems as players struggle in unusual roles. She also mentions that she hasn’t played as much as usual lately because she’s been busy with real life. They also talk about how there are rumors that the pre-patch will release on 7/23.

Next, Eric talks about how the guild finally killed Heroic Raszageth, but he also talks about how all he really did was log in for raid because he’s been busy in real life.

Kurabara talks about how he got pretty much everything he’s wanted in MoP Remix because with so many characters at level 70 he’s earned a ton of bronze. He also talks about getting Fyr’alath on his death knight only to learn just how time consuming the quest to fully unlock the axe is, even after waiting for it to drop. He also mentions how a random healer helped him stay alive during part of the quest.

In the news, we got a first look at The War Within’s login screen. Also, World of Warcraft if returning to China thanks to NetEase on 8/1. The Guild Realm Transfer and Guild Faction Transfer services are ending on 7/22. Blizzard has posted more short stories in advance of The War Within. And the beta may have revealed next month’s Trading Post. Also, Season of Discovery Phase 4 is coming 7/11. Plus, there is a World of Warcraft crossover in Diablo Immortal.

Crisp joined in tonight in place of Nick and his focus has been mainly on Cata Classic and ready to be super OP on his Blood DK with the stacking of mastery…but not before leveling up his Hunter first. He also learned that Warriors were able to pretty much global someone down in BGs with Throwdown, followed by a handful of other spells. Crisp is almost finished with the Remix mounts and 5 available mounts, but not really investing much time into it and same with raiding. He is super ready for the beta coming this week.

Eric has chosen “other”, despite being excited for Remix. He dreads having to down Razageth on Heroic as it has been the bane of the guild’s existence since she came out. However, he did get to dust off his Blood DK in Normal this past week, getting 6 Bullion for a total of a 20 iLevel upgrade.

Meanwhile, Kura is the opposite of Eric and has been going HaM with Remix and hating on the Stone Chainberlain quest as his Shaman can get to all the places in a leap and bound. His next goal is to make a Pandaren army of all the classes available. He finally was able to put an order in for The War Within Collector’s Box! Rei had contacted a few guildies on the search for who could make a mail belt, and Kura is just a sliver away from being able to max it, SO CLOSE!

Rei continues her trek of Keys with PUGs and it is always quite the experience, which makes some of the guys comment on their times with randoms. She still continues to struggle with communication and always hopes that the people who need to utilize the tools, would do so for the sake of the team.

In the news, The War Within beta releases this Wednesday, so be on the lookout! The “Shadow and Fury” trailer for the new expansion released on Monday. And for all the MoP Remix players, any extreme farming of the frog players will get their cloak nerfed and people who did not exploit, will get a quest for 40K Bronze.

One hundred episodes ago, Rei is still grouping up with PUGs, which led into talking about Warlock class changes, as well as when to use Time Warp. Harv was too busy to play and Nick is not happy that Blizzard removed the line where Garrosh calls Sylvanas a bitch cause people were upset and then decides that it makes sense because his kid plays.

First, Rei talks about how guilds broke in patch 10.2.7 and how she keeps getting the Guild Message of the Day when someone logs in. She also talks about running keys and the struggles at getting into various groups while pushing keys. She also talks about deleting people from battle.net and how that might be broken as well.

Eric talks about how he’s been enjoying Mists of Pandaria Remix. Kura and Nick have also been enjoying it and Nick gives a surprise Mists Remix quiz! They talk about how fun it is while leveling and Nick talks about the reports that scaling is broken at max level but Blizzard is working on a fix. They also talk about the different classes they are playing and how the gem system is changing their playstyles. Kura mentions that he was trying to level as a Pandaren but the lack of acknowledgement by the NPCs was disorienting. He also talks about some bugged quests that should have been fixed. Nick talks about how players were grinding frogs on the Timeless Isle again. Overall, everyone has been enjoying MoP Remix!

Nick also talks about how the changes to the weekly quests in Patch 10.2.7 compared with recent changes to Hearthstone weekly quests, as by removing the 3000 reputation requirement for the quests, Nick finally realized how much he previously disliked those quests.

In the news, Blizzcon has been cancelled for 2024. Nick talks about how he was surprised because previously Blizzard regretted cancelling the 2012 Blizzcon but also noted that much of the leadership from that time is no longer with the company. He also talks about the ways that Blizzcon can be reimagined and also that it does not ned to be tied to the first week in November.

Also, Christie Golden announced she was let go from Blizzard in the January layoffs. Everyone was surprised by this and Kura expresses his disappointment at the community members who were happy because they were (incorrectly) blaming Christie for problems with the Warcraft lore.

Actually, Nick, Rei, Eric, and Kura are here to talk about the big reveal from the 10.2.6 Patch. Rei talks about getting into Plunderstorm and figuring out how it worked. She also talks about some of the bugs with the patch including her UI resetting and chat and other server features being broken. Then Rei talks about what else she’s been doing in game such as playing with an old friend and then suffering from disconnects. They review the Hearthstone event and how plenty of people did not get the drops they wanted. Rei also talks about the struggles with learning to tank.

Eric talks about how instead of raiding they ran two groups through mythic dungeons. He also mentions that he does not like Plunderstorm.

Kura brings up that he’s getting orange numbers in his mythic keys. He’s also getting better at playing his Evoker, and his DK is doing well too. Kura played some Plunderstorm duos with Nick and the two shared some of what they learned. Nick talks about how Plunderstorm is reminiscent of when Hearthstone added Battlegrounds, and he is thinking that this could wind up as its own game mode possibly on console. They also talk about some of the outrage at the mode being caused by people not understanding how Blizzard was promoting it.

In the news, Season 4 will have Awakened Raids instead of fated raids. Also, John Hight’s GDC talk revealed WoW’s player numbers for the first time in years and also highlighted where Blizzard went wrong with Shadowlands. And there are new mounts available in the game for completing the meta-achievements for Shadowlands and Dragonflight, the latter rewarding the much requested Taivan mount!

Next, Rei talks about what’s been going on with Order of Corrupted Souls. She’s been struggling with players who aren’t reciprocating on the conversations she’s trying to have with them about improving their performance. She also talks about getting poor positions in the queue. She tried Dawn of the Infinite Hard Mode with the hourglasses and how difficult that was, and then she mentions doing some PVP and healing that successfully. This also leads to a discussion about Candy Crush. Rei also mentioned that she still feels guilty when she logs on and still has real world stuff to do.

Rei talks about not getting the Love Rocket this Love is in the Air, but she did spend her tokens on plenty of other items, including the strangely bugged “Eyes for You Only” toy. Nick derails the discussion to talk about Hearthstone and mentions that the Hearthstone 10th anniversary will be celebrated in WoW with a crossover promotion to earn transmog and even a mount. Rei and Eric then talk about watching the MDI and enjoying the competition and how close it was. They also compare the groups running MDI to some of the PUGs they have encountered.

Eric talks about how they are getting Heroic Fyrakk on farm now and preparing for the upcoming Fated raids but rerunning older raids. Also, he talks about running mythic+ for aspect crests.

Rei talks about trying out follower dungeons now that Patch 10.2.5 is live, and she reveals that she did not enjoy them. Nick points out that she and the rest of the gang are not the target audience for Follower Dungeons. She also talks about two-manning an M0 dungeon and struggling on an M+23. Then she reveals she learned what a ratlock is and Eric says he might be one. She also talks about Deathrolling.

Eric talks about defeating Heroic Fyrakk and also fishing for Godfrey’s spectacles in the newly liberated Gilneas. 

Kura talks about being too busy to play WoW but still finding time to play his DK in raid. He wondered about the age range of people that play WoW, as he heard that its mostly people over 30.

In the news, the Kokron War Wolf from the Siege of Orgrimmar ahead of the curve achievement was datamined with a traders tender value. This has lead to speculation it will be on the trading post. Also, Patch 10.2.6 encrypted servers are up which points to the patch launching around the end of March or start of April. Also, the Champion of the Dragonflights title has been hotfixed.

Nick then talks about the layoffs at Microsoft and how he feels guilty for supporting the acquisition in the name of getting rid of Bobby Kotick but doesn’t know if it was worth all these jobs. He admits that Kurabara was right that the merger was bad. They talk about the new Blizzard President and that they will have to wait to see how she performs. Nick is pessimistic on the future for the games industry going forward.

Next, Rei gets into what she’s been doing in WoW. She talks about running Mythic+’s and then gets into a discussion about LFR and how she has struggled to get any loot drops in LFR, which is entirely due to the transition away from Personal Loot earlier this expansion. The gang agrees that some change needs to be made to allow for bad luck protection in LFR, but that would seemingly require doctoring the need rolls.

Next, Rei and Eric talk about getting Smolderon down to 1% in their raid and point out that sometimes the raid performs better when certain members are absent. Eric also talks about dying and not being rezzed as a warlock, to which Nick tells him to just use his soulstone on himself.

Next, Kurabara talks about how he hasn’t been feeling well and has not been playing much lately, but he mentions being underwhelmed by the Trading Post reward this month which is a wristwatch transmog. Nick points out that it is probably a lesser reward since the big focus this month will be on people getting the 12-month achievement which grants the Warden armor transmogs.

Next, Nick talks about the 2024 Roadmap Blizzard revealed, which includes the War Within releasing around what looks like September, and a mysterious pirate flag labeled 10.2.6 which Nick posits will be an April Fool’s joke.

In the news, the Swift Windsteed mount is available for free from Prime Gaming, and there is a new Black Market Auction House vendor.

Eric talks about completing Normal Fyrakk and starting on Heroic Amirdrasill. They talk about the Legendary axe dropping and the crafting mats required to equip it. Eric also talks about running a +20 Blackrook Hold at three in the morning.

Kurabara talks about playing his Evoker and saving his dream seeds for his BIS items. He talks about enjoying the post-raid story and his discovery of rule 34 as it applies to Alexstraza and Ysera despite them being sisters. He also shares an anecdote about finding out his sister’s boyfriend plays WoW.

Nick talks about Season of Discovery launching in Classic and the reception generally being positive since the servers and queues were overwhelmed. They talk about the controversy over the Warlock tanking rune being locked behind the Blackfathom Deeps raid and how Blizzard moved some mobs outside the raid so that was not a problem. Nick still expresses concerns about Classic+ adding too much new content.

Eric, meanwhile, has been having fun with the new content. He’s been enjoying superblooms as they are a good source of experience, gear, and even mounts. They are hard on his graphics card however. He talks about the raid making it up to Fyrakk and the effects of some of the trinkets he has picked up.

Kurabara discusses learning his augmentation rotation, and how to time buffing the raid at the start of the encounter. He also talks about how he’s been working on the story quests in Patch 10.2 and he and Nick discuss the relative ease of getting Pathfinder now.

Next, Crisp shares what he’s been up to. He talks about playing as an Augmentation Evoker and compares notes with Kura. He mentions how quickly he was able to get his Naszuro legendary. He also talks about how with his guild struggling on Mythic Sarkareth, he’s mostly been running Heroic Aberrus and getting the majority of his experience there. Then, he talks about the state of hunter dps which is one of the reasons he’s been playing his Evoker. He and Nick disagree about how badly the class needs a revamp, for divergent reasons.

Next, Nick talks a little about how he’s actually making progress on the Trading Post ahead of time, and continues to lament that post is keeping more active than he would like to be.

In the news, they talk about the announcement that patch 10.1.7 is coming on September 5th. Nick talks about the inclusion of Forsaken Heritage armor, with a caution that on the PTR, players who use the Gear Update on a character have not been eligible for the Heritage Armor quests because it is erroneously registering as a boost. Nick talks about using the Gear Update on his Forsaken Rogue and being perturbed by the changes to his bags, and he is concerned that he will not be able to get the heritage armor when it becomes available in a few weeks.

Also in the news, they mention that a Paladin went rogue during a mythic keystone run, and held the dungeon hostage for gold by threatening to leave and ruining the key.

Finally, they take a quick look back at episode #144 which was full of hype for what they didn’t know was the last Blizzcon thus far.

Eric, meanwhile, talks about downing Heroic Sarkareth again and how he’s still a struggle. He also talks about watching the Great Push and trying to learn what he can from observing high level play. He talked about his experiences in the Dawn of the Infinite megadungeon and did not care for the Bullet hell part of the gauntlet.

Nick talks about his struggles completing the Trading Post for July, as the increased requirements were not copacetic with his desire to play Diablo IV. He also describes his experience queueing for timewalking dungeons and then getting dragged into Normal Brackenhide instead. This all leads to a discussion about the coming items on the trading post including the Blood Troll transmog in August and the class armor and weapon sets coming later this year. Nick posits that they are still going to offer tendies for real money but they are going to make players really clamor for it before doing it.

They also talk about Blizzcon tickets selling out and nerfs to the Burning Chains in Neltharus.

Finally, they look back at episode #143 and wonder about how much this year’s Virtual Ticket is going to cost.
