Chapter 15-16: The Summit and the Escape

Chapter 15 takes us to the Summit, where we witness Ashley being escorted into a Sanctuary. We share our thoughts on the intense action sections of the island, joined by Mike, who provides valuable assistance in clearing paths. While the island remains mostly familiar, navigating through the challenging areas proves difficult yet rewarding. In the Specimen Storage area, we encounter the dreaded Regenerators and discuss our strategies for maneuvering through them while conserving ammo. Facing hordes of enemies and traps, we finally confront Saddler at the Sanctuary, where he intends to conduct final rituals on Ashley. Our hosts compare Leon's infection to the original game, Ada's involvement in helping him escape, and Leon's journey to rid himself of the Plagas.

In Chapter 16, Leon wakes up and explores Luis's lab, finding answers to many questions about his past and the plagas. We share our experiences with the Sanctuary's jump scares and confront the merchant one last time before facing Saddler. Our hosts took different paths in defeating Saddler, but both successfully made it to the Jet Ski in time to escape the island, albeit with a few bumps and bruises along the way.

Chapter 13-14: The Island and The Battlefield

Chapter 13 starts as Leon and Ada make their way to the island and share a heart-to-heart conversation that leaves Leon with more questions than answers. Once on the island, Leon must navigate through tight security and face new enemies, spotlights, and turrets as he searches for Ashley.

After fighting hoards of enemies, Leon finds Ashley resting in a prison, but needs a three-tiered key to rescue her. The search for the key leads Leon and to a dark laboratory where he encounters the returning Regenerators. With many puzzles and eerie fights, he is finally able to get the final tier for the key and administer the serum to Ashley, who is barely hanging on. As Leon waits for her to awaken, he seems worried about their future and the ever-present threat of the plagas.

In Chapter 14, Ashley wakes up, and Leon tells her about Luis's fate, giving them both more motivation to fight harder. As they search through the storage and garbage areas, they encounter another Regenerator that now becomes an Iron Maiden. Throughout the next area, Ashley must hold a lever while Leon fends off enemies and another regenerator. Later in the yard, they find a crane with a wrecking ball, but they face a horde of enemies that come to attack while Ashley tries to break a wall to progress. After a successful battle, they find the Amber Luis mentioned but are stopped by Osmund Saddler, who takes control of Ashley and almost kills Leon. Saddler kidnaps Ashley once again, and Leon must traverse through an encampment built by Krauser to prepare for the final knife fight.

Chapters 11-12: The Mines and The Clock Tower

Chapter 11 finds Leon and Luis exploring the mines to find a way out. They must clear a path using dynamite and face a double Gigante fight that has become more difficult than before. They travel on a minecart to the hive, where they learn of the Plagas origin and fight off more Novistadors. Luis is attacked by Krauser which activates the Krauser knife fight, but is no longer a quick time event. Unfortunately, after telling Leon what to do next, Luis succumbs to his injuries.

In Chapter 12, we return to the castle where we can backtrack to collect any missed items. We can also complete a quest and sit on the Throne for a fun photo opportunity. As we make our way into the Clock Tower, Salazar greets us and unleashes a barrage of enemies to slow us down. We must dodge his fire-breathing statue, a giant rolling ball of spikes, and climb a flimsy elevator on our way to the top. Finally, we are challenged by Salazar in an intense boss fight, which leads us to the island with Ada.

Chapters 9-10: Grand Hall and The Ball Room

Chapter 9 kicks off with a conversation with Luis, where he stalls to meet up with Leon and Ashley, setting the stage for the maze in the Courtyard with infected dogs lurking around every corner. Here you can use Ashley to help backtrack to find hidden treasures. In the Grand Hall, they encounter a statue of Chimera and must find the Ram Head, Snake Head, and Lion Head to progress. Things take a John Wick-style turn when Leon is trapped in a cage, and Ashley has to help him find a way out by fighting armored enemies with a lantern. However, after finding a key, Ashley gets captured, and Leon must rescue her again.

Chapter 10 begins with Ada alerting Leon about Ashley's kidnapping and directing him to the Throne Room. We are able to revisit the library Ashley explored and on the main quest, venture into the Main Ballroom, where we face off with the camouflaged Novistadors. To unlock the Throne Room, we must fight two Garradors and multiple enemies. Once we reach the Throne Room, Ashley is in the middle of a ritual, and Leon is thrown into a pit, surviving against all odds. In the depths, we encounter more Novistadors, and the optional fight with the Verdugos adds to the excitement. We then witness Saddler activating Krauser and Luis meeting up with Leon, setting the stage for the next chapter.

Chapters 7-8: The Castle and the Courtyard

Chapters 5-6: The Cabin & The Checkpoint

As we begin Chapter 5 of Resident Evil 4, we find Leon accompanied by Ashley, who we now have the ability to command. She can stay close to Leon or scatter, but we must ensure her safety as she can now become incapacitated. Leaving the church behind, they encounter a swarm of enemies as they make their way through the village. Let's backtrack and head towards Mendez's house, where we uncover more details about the village before the Plagas took over. Along the way, we activate the Savage Mutt Contract, which puts a bounty on infected dogs that we must defeat on our way to the cabin. Finally, arriving at the cabin and meet Luis, who helps Leon fight off a seemingly endless horde of enemies.

In Chapter 6, Luis reveals that he is secretly working with Ada, but he still aims to help Leon on his mission. Unfortunately, the enemies have strengthened their defenses, and we find Leon fighting harder than ever progressing through each defense area. The Bella Sisters attack with their chainsaws, but Leon manages to escape and make their way towards Mendez. Despite best efforts, Leon must face Mendez for one last battle. Finally taking him down, Leon and Ashley enter the nearby castle. Little do they know, the nightmare has only just begun.

Chapters 3-4: The Lake & The Church

We take a deep dive into Chapter 3 and 4 of Resident Evil 4. Our adventure begins with a trip to the village where we learn more about Luis Serra's connection to Umbrella and rescue a dog trapped in a bear trap. Our journey takes us to the locked church, where we face off against some enemies before finally reaching the lake. However, our boat needs fuel, so we venture off to the fish farm to get it. With fuel in hand, we confront "El Lago," the first boss.

In Chapter 4, things get darker as we encounter more creatures of the night while searching for treasures and keys. Eventually, we face off against El Gigante, the second boss, with the help of a furry friend if we choose to accept it. The climax of the episode sees us saving a hesitant Ashley from the church, but our celebrations are cut short when Saddler speaks to Leon and Ashley, and a new horde arrives.
